the director of Airplane! and The Naked Gun films comes the
third installment of the Scary Movie series. This time David Zucker
takes over the director's chair from Keenen Ivory Wayans who helmed the first
two send-up comedies.
Anna Faris is back to reprise her role as Cindy Campbell. This time, the story follows her and some new friends as more bizarre things occur, including the mysterious appearance of crop circles (spoofing Signs) and disturbing video tapes (à la The Ring). It's up to Cindy to uncover the truth about these strange goings-on, in order to rid the world of evil. All the while, she's being stalked by a couple of crazy photographers. In the first film, the writers poked fun at teen slasher movies and in the second, did take-offs on Scream and The Exorcist. This time, the characters parody the fantasy epic The Lord of the Rings, Eminem's film 8 Mile and the sci-fi thriller The Matrix Reloaded. They also pick on Michael Jackson. Now that she's out of college, Cindy has become a television news anchor woman. Charlie Sheen plays Tom Logan who summons her to investigate the crop circles at his farm and help him uncover the strange secret behind the death of a close friend. Along the way, Cindy meets Orpheus, who reveals that she is The One, and explains it's up to her to help the president of the United States (Leslie Nielsen) in preventing a full scale alien invasion. - Elaine Loring |
